Overview
United Airlines retained BNP Associates, Inc. for a clean-sheet apron layout design and implementation at their Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Terminal and Maintenance Hard Stand Gates. Due to an updated fleet mix, modifications to existing wingtips, and flight schedule updates, United Airlines required a complete overhaul of its existing parking schemes.
Design Scope
Detailed concepts and design documents were provided for fourteen parking positions, including all lead-in lines, safety envelopes, taxi lanes, vehicle service roads, bridge stow positions, and aircraft stop marks. Various concepts were developed in coordination with SEA-TAC Airport to confirm proper lease line clearances, existing object avoidance, and taxi-lane patterns near the United Airlines maintenance building.
On-Site Support
Additionally, BNP provided onsite coordination with the paint contractor and assistance during all aircraft fit testing at the gates. Although the gates do not typically service widebody aircraft, the maintenance building regularly services the largest aircraft in United’s fleet mix.
